Tiana Hemlock-Yensen is a choreographer, dancer, teacher, writer who grew up mostly on the east coast of Australia. They moved to NYC to continue their study of dance and movement in 2008 where they encountered Klein Technique which became and continues to be an underpinning for their understanding of body and movement practices. In NYC Tiana had the pleasure of dancing with Alexandra Beller, Lindsey Deitz Marchant, Nancy Bannon, Palissimo (Pavel Zustiak), SilCo Dance and Creature Theater (CJ Holm) as well as presenting their own choreographies and curating performance events. Graduating from SNDO (School for New Dance Development), Amsterdam in 2016 with a BA in choreography Tiana continues to make their own work and tour in Europe as well as teach, dance and work as an advisor both in Europe and Australia. Tiana is currently interested in the ways virtual spaces touch our bodies through changing our neurology, in the activation of touch through language and sound, in the way that bodies measure and create spaces of their own through presence and how presence in movement slices time. Tiana looks for and works around how to build meaningful fictions, actions and connections of all kinds for the futures we inhabit mostly now. How do we position ourselves in space? What should be remembered?

Living between Amsterdam and Berlin Tiana continues the never ending study of the body, dance and the complex field of politics that surround these artistic and everyday systems. They are currently studying in the Klein Technique Teacher Certification program under Susan Klein as well as deepening their study of Alexander Technique. They are one leg of a tripod of curators and organisers of BIMBY Body Un/Knowledge weekend, a practice and process based weekend looking at the daily and inherent practices we do with our bodies, the knowledge that engenders and the politics too. Tiana has been/ is working with and/or performing for Cristina Kristal Rizzo, Oneka von Schrader, Giulio D’Anna, Lester Arias, Juli Reinhartz, Jeremy Wade and Benjamin Kamino and continues to draw physical and artistic inspiration from Maria F. Scaroni, Judith Sanchez Ruiz, Katie Duck, Ria Higler, Linda Blomqvist and Susan T. Klein among others.
