A Turkish Cypriot dervish dancer @dervishzeybek , performer and choreographer meets a Greek Cypriot (Marios Ktoridis) choreographer. The time and space they meet is pivotal. August 2024, the war in Gaza and West Bank is well established and expanding across the region. What else could we talk about given our own country’s/ island’s history?
Our families never talked much about becoming refugees. They suppressed their pain and anger and developed humbleness and pride. They put their heads down and worked to wash off their wounds. They offered to their children a life like the war never happened. History is a bitch and if you ignore it it will bite.
